The National Army thwarted criminal activities in eastern Huila

During the operation, 18 improvised explosive devices ready for use were found, as well as materials for manufacturing additional devices, including 142 detonators, 47 jars of black gunpowder, 200 meters of detonating cord, and 300 meters of safety fuse.

Among the seized items were also pellets, metal staples, and other components used as shrapnel to increase the lethal capacity of these improvised explosives, a practice that violates human rights and international humanitarian law.

Additionally, two IM26 fragmentation grenades, an M4 rifle magazine, and 26 5.56-caliber cartridges were seized at the site, along with uniforms and clothing believed to be used by members of this illegal armed group.

According to preliminary information, this material was intended to be used to carry out actions against the security forces, with the aim of disrupting military operations in this area of eastern Huila. Likewise, these devices could be used to intimidate the civilian population and create disruptions designed to pressure them into paying extortion fees during the harvest season.

This operational success undermines the logistical and criminal capabilities of this illegal armed group and helps preserve the security of communities in the department of Huila.
