The National Army seized nearly 1,800 rounds of ammunition and weapons belonging to the Gulf Clan in a rural area of Urrao, Antioquia

During sustained military operations in southwestern Antioquia, troops from the 11th Cacique Nutibara Light Infantry Battalion, part of the National Army’s Fourth Brigade, captured three suspected members of the Gulf Clan in the act in the rural area of Orobugo Alto, municipality of Urrao.

During the military operation, soldiers searched the suspects and found in their possession a large quantity of war material and quartermaster supplies, which, it appears, were to be used for illicit activities that threaten the security and peace of this subregion of the department. Among the seized materials are nearly 1,800 cartridges of various calibers, a .38-caliber revolver, and a pistol.

This significant operational achievement represents a major blow to the armed and logistical capabilities of this illegal armed group operating in the area. It also contributes to strengthening security conditions for the communities in the region. The seized materials and the captured individuals were handed over to the competent authorities to carry out urgent proceedings and continue with the corresponding investigative process.

The National Army will continue to conduct military operations in the department of Antioquia, with the aim of protecting the civilian population, preserving the stability of the territory, and countering any threat that undermines the security and peace of the communities.
