After a month of intensive training and instruction, the military personnel will return to their units with the mission of helping to care for and protect the lives of those in the area of operations.
The 194th Military First Responder Course successfully concluded at the facilities of the 14th Instruction, Training, and Retraining Battalion of the 14th Brigade. Thirty-seven professional soldiers participated in the course, strengthening their knowledge and skills in stabilizing the wounded, primary care, basic prehospital care, and preventive medicine in the area of operations.
During the course, personnel acquired skills in first aid, bleeding control, trauma management, patient immobilization, evacuation and transport of the wounded, initial care in emergency situations, coordination for evacuations to the first level of care, as well as self-care procedures in the event of health issues.
This training opportunity strengthened the capabilities of the 3rd Infantry Battalion “Battle of Bárbula,” the 56th Railway Battalion “Battle of Calibío,” the 42nd Light Infantry Battalion “Battle of Bomboná,” organic units of the 14th Brigade, as well as the 27th Rapid Deployment Battalion of the 9th Rapid Deployment Force, which will now have personnel trained to save lives during military operations.
Through this training, the new military first responders were equipped to provide immediate support during troop deployment in the theater of operations, helping to protect and safeguard the lives and well-being of military personnel, improve emergency response times, and preserve the lives of those carrying out the constitutional mission.
After completing four training phases, during which they acquired knowledge in anatomy, bleeding management, trauma procedures, tropical diseases, and specialized training through the skills course, the participants obtained their certification as military first responders, endorsed by the Health Directorate.
This ensures that troops deployed in northeastern Antioquia and Magdalena Medio have trained personnel capable of acting promptly in operational scenarios, supporting humanitarian aid efforts, and responding to contingencies that require their service.
During the course, professional soldiers Luis Antonio Sanza Peñafiel, Jorge Iván Moncada Riaño, and Yair José Castro Bolaños, members of the 3rd Infantry Battalion “Battle of Bárbula,” stood out for their commitment, dedication, and devotion, taking the top three spots.
Professional soldier Luis Antonio Sanza, who took first place, stated: “Being a military first responder represents the commitment and responsibility to lend a hand to our comrades in the area of operations. That was my motivation to strive and achieve this result. Every piece of knowledge, skill, and technique acquired will allow me to contribute to the National Army and, in the future, wage a battle against time to save lives.”
In this way, the National Army continues to strengthen the training of its personnel, consolidating capabilities and knowledge aimed at preserving the Force and maintaining optimal conditions for those who work daily to ensure the security of the territory.
