The 10th Brigade’s security force is ready for Election Day

More than 4,000 soldiers were deployed to provide security at 111 polling stations in the department of Cesar and 54 in La Guajira during the upcoming elections next Sunday. Similarly, another 3,000 uniformed personnel will be stationed on major and secondary roads, in addition to conducting offensive military operations in strategic sectors, with the aim of neutralizing any threat that could disrupt the democratic process.

These soldiers underwent rigorous prior training, strengthening their capabilities through tactical exercises and training focused on the prevention of electoral crimes, with the aim of acting in a timely manner and within the legal framework in response to any situation that disrupts public order or affects the transparency of the elections.

It is worth noting that a fundamental role within this security operation is carried out by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams, military experts whose mission is to locate, identify, and destroy improvised explosive devices and antipersonnel mines, in order to ensure the safe movement of troops and protect the lives of both military personnel and the civilian population. That is why, for this election day, the 10th Brigade has deployed 20 EOD teams in Cesar, La Guajira, and in support of southern Bolívar.

“Our mission is to protect the lives of our fellow soldiers and the civilian population. Every day we work to detect any threats and provide peace of mind to communities, especially on this election day. The most important thing for us is that people feel safe and can go out to vote with confidence,” said Third Corporal Andrey Tique, commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.

All these efforts are aimed at protecting the civilian population and strengthening security in the region so that citizens can exercise their right to vote in an atmosphere of tranquility, trust, and institutional support.

For this reason, the commander of the 10th Brigade, Colonel Carlos Alberto Avilés Olaya, invites the public to trust that his soldiers will be ready to provide security throughout the territory and reaffirms his commitment to working in a joint, coordinated, and inter-institutional manner.
