On the roads of Cauca, the National Army rescued a driver and recovered a vehicle loaded with coffee for export: four arrested following an anti-kidnapping operation

As part of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, National Army troops successfully thwarted the kidnapping of a truck driver and recovered the vehicle transporting export-grade coffee following a military operation conducted in the department of Cauca.

According to the information gathered, the citizen was intercepted by four individuals carrying handguns, who detained him and transported him against his will to a rural area of the municipality of Paispamba, while seizing the vehicle and its cargo.

The rescue operation was led by troops from the Cauca Military Gaula, with the support of the National Police, in the rural area of Cristalares, within that municipality. Upon learning of the incident, the units immediately launched search, location, and operational pressure maneuvers, successfully rescuing the driver, recovering the vehicle, and capturing the four alleged perpetrators in the act.

Those captured were handed over to the competent authorities and will face charges for the alleged crimes of kidnapping, receiving stolen goods, and the manufacture, trafficking, carrying, or possession of firearms. Judicial investigations will determine whether these individuals have ties to organized armed groups operating in this region of the country.

The exported coffee being transported was valued at over 250 million pesos; the entire shipment was recovered, thereby preventing significant economic damage to the coffee industry and the region’s production chain.
