Life-saving Forces: our search and rescue capabilities stand with every Colombian

More than 24 hours have passed since the earthquake, and since that moment, men and women of the National Army have been deployed to the various locations hardest hit by the tragedy: Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Caldas, and Quindío. Soldiers are already on the ground in the other affected departments and cities, searching through the rubble for signs of life.

Today we tell all Colombians that our commitment knows no distance, circumstance, or schedule; our search-and-rescue capabilities stand with each of those affected and their families. At all costs, our military personnel work tirelessly so that the dreams, hopes, and goals of the Colombian people can continue to become a reality.

Behind every uniform is a human being who understands the fear of those who have lost everything; who knows that an outstretched hand can be the hope of a new dawn; who understands that standing by a family can be just as important as clearing debris; and who knows that staying by the community’s side is also what it means to protect it.

In the affected areas, every effort counts. Every search, every block of rubble cleared, every evacuation, every aid package delivered, and every minute of work demonstrate our determination not to leave those who are currently facing the most difficult moments of their lives on their own.

The National Army is present everywhere, putting its capabilities at the service of life and walking alongside Colombia when the path becomes most difficult. In every corner where a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a glimmer of hope is needed today, our soldiers will always be there, regardless of the circumstances.
