In the Sixth Brigade, 38 canine teams graduated in narcotics and explosives detection

The closing ceremony for Course No. 131 in Canine Guidance and Substance Detection was held at the Jaime Rooke Military Canton, Sixth Brigade, with the participation of the canine teams that successfully completed the training process in the detection of narcotic substances and explosives in the city of Ibagué, which are part of the 13th General Antonio Baraya Engineer Battalion.

A total of 14 Belgian Shepherd dogs trained in narcotics detection and 24 trained in explosives detection will now begin to support various tasks related to the stability of Colombian territory, reinforcing the institutional command's strategies to combat factors of instability in the different units of the National Army.

For four months, the training of these dogs focuses on the handler-dog bond, using play and olfactory stimulation to detect illicit substances through the simulation of real situations, focusing on the search for cargo, warehouses, and critical areas or explosives through play and the association of smells.

At just 15 days old, these dogs begin their training, and year after year they are trained to continue strengthening the country's security.
