Alleged terrorist attack by the ELN GAO in La Gabarra foiled

During the operation, troops seized two improvised explosive devices, a 9-millimeter pistol with its magazine, 16 rounds of ammunition for the pistol, and a cell phone. All the material was turned over to the competent authority for prosecution.

According to a preliminary analysis conducted by specialized personnel, the characteristics and artisanal manufacturing method of the explosive devices suggest that they were prepared to carry out an alleged terrorist act. Their fragmentation system would have increased their destructive power through the dispersion of shrapnel and the blast wave, with the aim of causing as much damage as possible.

According to intelligence reports, the alleged objective of this action was to target members of the security forces conducting control and security operations in the urban area of La Gabarra.

The suspect was handed over to the competent authorities to proceed with the corresponding legal proceedings, while troops from the Vulcano Task Force continue to conduct operations in the Catatumbo region to neutralize any threats against the civilian population, preserve security, and ensure the stability of the territory.
