The Colombian National Army, through its Leadership Center, conducted a training program for 121 non-commissioned officers who are set to become future major sergeants, as part of the Advanced Leadership Training Course ( Capalid in Spanish).
This initiative was designed to strengthen their competencies in leadership, ethics, and decision-making, preparing them to assume greater responsibilities within the institution. The academic and practical program focused on consolidating fundamental skills for the exercise of command, promoting values such as discipline, setting an example, and character among the participants, all essential for leading troops.
This training process is based on the Army Leadership Model, which seeks to develop leaders of integrity who are capable and committed to the institutional mission. This model is based on three key attributes: character, grounded in ethics, discipline, and loyalty; presence, which highlights military bearing, resilience, and physical strength; and intellect, oriented toward sound judgment, innovation, and the construction of knowledge based on experience.
Based on these pillars, the program promotes a leadership style that encourages leading by example, building strong teams, and achieving effective results through trust, professional development, and the fulfillment of strategic objectives.
The Leadership Center thus reaffirms its commitment to training highly skilled non-commissioned officers who possess critical thinking skills and the ability to positively influence their troops. Future major sergeants, as a fundamental pillar of the Army’s structure, play a key role in cohesion, discipline, and the fulfillment of the institutional mission.
This training represents a significant step forward in the professional development of the participants, fostering leadership of integrity that is prepared to face the challenges of service, thereby contributing to the well-being and security of Colombia.
