This infrastructure will benefit nearly 400 elementary and high school students of the Laureano Martínez Educational Institution, providing them with adequate spaces for their academic training.
This project, which has been underway since last year, began when the Mayor's Office of Pueblo Bello made a request to the Ancla Foundation, stating the urgent needs of the school, where students and teachers had to teach their classes in improvised classrooms in the open.
Faced with this situation, the Ancla Foundation responded to the call and, with the support of the National Army, started the construction of these classrooms through the Integral Action and Development Support Battalion No. 1 and the Engineer Battalion No. 70 General Manuel Murillo Gonzáles.
The work began in December 2024, with the construction of the concrete that would serve as the base for the infrastructure of the classrooms. This valuable contribution was made by the Municipality of Pueblo Bello, which, together with the Ancla Foundation, assumed the commitment to transform the education of the children and young people of the area.
The inauguration of the six new classrooms was a true celebration for the community. The event was attended by members of the Ancla Foundation, who traveled from Sweden together with the benefactors who made this project possible. The joy and gratitude of the nearly 400 elementary and high school students, who will benefit from these new learning spaces, were a reflection of the importance of this work.
?We had six grades that were in improvised classrooms, here we call them 'enramados', they are nothing more than sticks with zinc, that's how our students were and thanks to the support that today is giving us the Ancla Foundation, the Municipal Mayor's Office and the National Army, we can have this beautiful building?, said Yenfaid Colpa Sanchez, rector of the Institution.
In addition to this project, the National Army and the Ancla Foundation have worked together on other important projects throughout the national territory, such as the construction of classrooms in the former Territorial Training and Reincorporation Area of Tierra Grata, in Manaure, Cesar; in the Arhuaca indigenous community of Ikarwa, in Valledupar; and in La Guajira, always with the purpose of supporting the most vulnerable communities.
With the delivery of these classrooms, the National Army and the Ancla Foundation reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together for the welfare and education of Colombians, promoting projects that leave a mark in every corner of the country.
