Joint operation strikes at the armed and explosive capabilities of a residual armed structure in Meta

As part of a military operation, troops from the National Army’s 11th Rapid Deployment Force, in conjunction with the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, and in coordination with the National Police’s Sijín unit, carried out a raid in the rural area of La Hermita, within the jurisdiction of Puerto Rico, Meta.

During the military operation, a suspect known by the alias “Jimmi” was captured; he is believed to be a member of the Jhon Linares structure, which belongs to the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc GAO-r. An illegal cache was also discovered at the site, containing two 5.56-millimeter rifles, one 9-millimeter pistol, one non-lethal pistol, five magazines, and 215 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

Likewise, specialized personnel from the 11th Direct Action and Reconnaissance Battalion carried out the controlled destruction of approximately 220 kilograms of pentolite, an explosive material that posed a latent threat to the security of communities and the security forces. This outcome significantly reduces the armed, logistical, and terrorist capabilities of this residual group.

The detainee and the seized material were handed over to the competent authorities to proceed with the judicial process, with due process respected at all times.

The National Army will continue to carry out joint, coordinated, and interagency operations to protect the civilian population and strengthen security in the department of Meta.
