Four illegal valves were discovered by Army troops in a rural area of Barrancabermeja, Santander

During military operations, troops from the 6th Field Artillery Battalion “Lieutenant General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla” located and neutralized four illegal valves installed on the Galán–Sebastopol pipeline in a rural area of the municipality of Barrancabermeja, Santander.

These operations were carried out in the rural areas of Tenerife and Cuatro Bocas, where these illegal sites used for the illicit extraction of hydrocarbons were dismantled. It is estimated that each of these valves generated approximately 400 million pesos per month, fueling the illicit economies of organized armed groups operating in the region.

The operation prevented environmental damage and protected the country’s strategic infrastructure, allowing CENIT technical personnel to carry out the necessary repairs, while the seized items were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office.

In the last 10 days, with this new capability of the CIMVRI, soldiers from this same unit have found 6 valves, preventing the theft of hydrocarbons and undermining the illicit economies of armed groups.

In this way, the Fifth Brigade invites the community to report any suspicious activity that threatens state resources and the security of the region.
