The military personnel provided the structure in less than 72 hours, which is contributing to the economic reactivation of the south of the department and the country in general that had been affected by the closure of this national road.
In recognition of the hard work done by the 40 men deployed by the National Army, for the installation of the military bridge on the national road that connects Pailitas with Curumaní, Cesar, the institution made recognition by imposing the Faith in the Cause medal.
The decoration was held in the same place where the military engineers, this Saturday, February 26, put into operation the modular structure, which took less than 72 hours to be enabled after the cowardly attack perpetrated by the organized armed group ELN.
Major General Carlos Iván Moreno Ojeda, second commander of the Army; Major General Mauricio Moreno Rodríguez, Chief of Staff Generator of Force; Major General Gerardo Melo, commander of the First Division; Brigadier General Olveiro Pérez Mahecha, commander of the Command of Engineers, and Brigadier General Néstor Enrique Caro Gutiérrez, on the instructions of General Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro Altamiranda, commander of the National Army, imposed the Military Medal Faith in the Cause on the nearly 40 uniformed personnel who, through their differential capabilities to attend to this kind of emergency, managed to recover mobility in this important road corridor that connects a large part of the Caribbean region with the interior of the country.
After the act, and in a tour of the bridge, a reinforced simple triple Acrow, 27 meters long and capable of withstanding up to 52 tons of weight, some drivers of cargo vehicles and travelers thanked the work done by the military.
Finally, the troops and the high commands shared a small snack to celebrate and finish the works that today maintain circulation and vehicular traffic in a normal way in this region.
The military engineers and machinery began their return to Valledupar, Bucaramanga, and the National Training Center in Tolemaida, to continue preparing and thus continue to comply and contribute to the development of the country.
