Imposing Military Ceremony Commemorating the 196 Years of the Pantano de Vargas Battle and Cavalry Day
The military ceremony was coordinated by the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 1 - General José Miguel Silva Plazas. It was headed by the General Marcolino Tamayo Tamayo, Director of the Legal Headquarters of the Army, the Commander of the First Brigade Colonel Omar René Garzón Forero, and the Commander of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 1 Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Alberto Betancourt Paniagua. It allowed highlighting the courage, bravery and dedication of the troopers reflecting heroism of the Lanceros de Rondón who demonstrate the sentence pronounced by General Simón Bolivar Coronel Rondón Salve Usted la Patria (Colonel Rondon, Save homeland).

A floral tribute was placed to the monument Los Lanceros, found in the Pantano de Vargas as a memory of the historic battle which allowed starting the final triumph of the independence of Colombia.

After the military ceremony of the Cavalry Group No. 1 - General José Miguel Silva Plazas, a piece of art of El Libertador was enveiled, located in La Casona, where 196 years ago, Simon Bolivar made the planning of victory in the Pantano de Vargas and the Puente de Boyacá.

The event was attended by delegations from the Eighth Division of the Army, the governors of Boyaca, Casanare, Arauca, Meta, and Vichada, as well as local authorities of Duitama, and Paipa among others.
