At the Teatro Patria, located in North Canton, in Bogota, Colombian Army Commander, Major General Alejandro Navas Ramos, initiated the Human Rights Congress and International Humanitarian Law for the Army, accompanied by Brigadier General Chief Jorge Rodriguez Clavijo Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law of the Army.
Before an audience of students in training schools awaiting promotion, the Army Commander presented the progress on the Human Rights Institution and urged the officers and noncommissioned officers to continue their efforts to comply with and apply the rules of Human Rights.
The three-day conference covered topics of Human Rights Policy in the Army, Human Rights Policy in the Ministry of Defense, Colombia before the Inter-American Human Rights Protection and the security forces, criminal investigations of members of the Military Forces of Colombia international situation in Human Rights and IHL, the disciplinary power of the state and protection of human rights, protection of children and adolescents, defending the state before the inter-American communities, protected species and international justice.
Among the presenters were Pedro Pablo Parodi, Deputy IIHR in Colombia, Guillermo Mendoza Diago, Attorney Generals Office, Jesús Peña Palacios, Representative Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights United Nations; Cajiao Alfonso Cabrera, Attorney General Counsel the Nation, Eduardo Gallardo Villar, UNICEF Humanitarian Action Officer, Fernando Trebilcock expert in international justice.
