Cauca. The voluntary surrender of a FARC guerrilla, the capture of two subjects belonging to a criminal mob and the finding of a cachet containing war material are only a few of the results obtained by the Armys Third Division, during the last few hours in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
It was initially reported that a FARC guerrilla voluntarily surrendered to troops from High Mountain Battalion Three `Rodrigo Lloreda Caicedo´, stationed in the neighborhood called 12 de Octubre, in the city of Santiago de Cali, Valle del Cauca.
Alias `El Tigre´ as he was known within this terrorist organization, told the troops that he had been with the group for a period of three years.
On another front, troops from infantry Battalion Seven `José Hilario López´ while performing offensive operations in the municipality of Balboa, Cauca, apprehended two mobsters from a drug trafficking gang, who were in possession of ammunition and solid chemicals used for the processing of cocaine.
In this military action soldiers confiscated 1500 kg of caustic soda, 1160 kg of lime, 12 kg of black powder and 125 rounds of ammunition.
Simultaneously, soldiers from High Mountain Battalion 4, patrolling the municipal boundaries, dismantled a cachet owned by a criminal mob, where they found six assault rifles, 4 clips and 26 rounds of ammunition.
